About Projects

Back

I can still remember so well on one cloudy day in October 1997 getting that call from Mr. Marchart´s (VP of R&D) secretary office at Porsche about Ferry´s unscheduled visit and asked whether we could quickly prepare something to show him.

Obviously we wanted to show him only the top project. I was lucky that my Turbo 996 clay-model was in a “casual” presentable state. I had it out on the courtyard´s turntable. Maybe 15 minutes after that call, Ferry walked in accompanied by Mr. Marchart. Half the studio staffs had gone to a car-show. We pulled out a chair to the courtyard for Ferry to sit down for the presentation because he was a little shaky on his feet. After I walked him through the Turbo, I noticed he was such a good listener, as good as years ago despite his age.

I usually got to see him only during the annual board meetings/presentations. So this time I thought was special and ask the photographer to shoot some photos of us in front of the Turbo, and he insisted on getting up from his chair and stood with us for the photo, I thought to myself what a strong and good character with such a warm heart for his people and products in his very own unique way.

This Tribute is dedicated to him - these are sketch models I started creating on my free time after he past away on 27.03.1998. I bet he would have enjoyed it, as much as he did on the 996 Turbo.
